ABSTRACT:

The development of knowledge management in recent years has become the keyconcern for librarians and libraries. This paper reviewed the role of libraries in thedevelopment of knowledge management and compared the differences betweeninformation and knowledge management. It also examined the role of librarians/libraries in knowledge management and suggested thatlibrarians/libraries in modem information age should be in charge of knowledgemanagement in their respective organizations to facilitate knowledge creation.The paper recommended that for any library to succeed in implementingknowledge management, it will require astrong leadership vision, professionalknowledge and experience from the top administration, which influence theorganization's knowledge sharing efforts in a positive way.
