The Journal is an international journal of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria under the sponsorship of the Education Tax Fund (ETF), Nigeria. It aims to publish high quality papers in the fields of Humanities, Social Studies and related fields. The frequency of publication would be biannually, two issues per volume. Vision of the Journal The vision of the journal is to be a globally acclaimed medium of dissemination of outstanding and reliable scientific information and innovative research findings. Mission of the Journal The mission of the journal is to advance knowledge by promoting and encouraging high-quality research activities and cutting edge scientific publications in Humanities, Social Studies and related fields. To this end, the journal will publish its issues regularly, promptly as at when due and ensure a reliable distribution network to all the members of academic staff in Obafemi Awolowo University and other subscribers both nationally and internationally. Pattern of Publishing, Supplementary and Specific Edition Each edition shall endeavour to publish articles spread across different fields in the humanities. Supplementary and special editions may be published as needs may arise. The journal would have a wide scope to cover every specialty in the related faculties in the university; it would be given a very wide publicity. Submission of manuscript

Notes to Contributors

1. Articles should be written in English language and such articles should be original and contain previously unpublished data, interpretations or synthesis. Manuscript should be typewritten with double spacing with wide margins. Review papers and short communication are also welcomed.
2. Submitted articles will be peer-reviewed.
3. Where such articles are accepted for publication, page charges (to be decided) will be imposed. Articles are accepted for publication with the understanding that such articles have not been published elsewhere. By submitting an article therefore, the author(s) agree that the copyright for the article is transferred to the publisher (the journal) if and when the article is accepted for publication.
4. Articles will be submitted as a soft copy through electronic e-mail attachment (MS- Word) to

• Paper size: A4;
• Margins: Top, Bottom, Left, Right set to 2.5cm;
• Word length for each paper should not exceed 5000 words;
• If possible, use endnote as reference manager;
• Use Microsoft Word for Text;
• Spell out all acronyms at first use;
• Typeface and font: Times New Roman 12 point, double spacing; and
• Title: Avoid long title. It includes manuscript title followed by authors’ names and affiliations, and should be centred aligned.
• Key words: Include 3 to 5 key words (for indexing purposes) with your manuscript.
• Abstract: Approximately 150 to 250 words.
• Text: Use font Times New Roman 12 point, left justified for body text.

Book Review

(a) Invitation to publishers: Anyone who wishes to have his/her books or educational software reviewed and published in the journal can contact the Editors-in-Chief or any of the Editors.

(b) Invitation to colleagues: The review of current books is given top priority by the Editorial Board. Young scholars, especially are encouraged to utilise this opportunity to cut their academic teeth. The structure of the review is as follows: a. Author, Title, Publisher, Pages; (b) Summary of content; (c) Assets; (d) Weaknesses; (e) Conclusion.

Anyone who is interested in contributing to the journal by writing a review article (500-1000 words) can contact the Editor-in-Chief or any of the editors.

Article should be arranged in the following order: title page, abstract, introductions, materials and methods, discussion of results, conclusions, acknowledgements (where applicable), references, tables and figures.

The first page which is the title page should contain the title of the article, the name(s) of the author(s), their institutional address (es) and an informative abstract. There should be a clear indication of the author to whom proofs and any correspondence should be sent: otherwise all supply email address through which you can be contacted.

The main text should follow on page 2 and maybe sub-divided into primary, secondary and tertiary sections. Primary headings should be in highlighted lower case adjacent to the left hand margin with the keywords commencing in capital letters, secondary headings in un-highlighted lower-case adjacent to the left hand margin while tertiary headings should be in bold italics indented and followed by the text. All portions of the article must be typed double-spaced and all pages numbered starting from the title page.

The Abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory. It should briefly define the study/objective, methodology, results and conclusion. The Abstract should not exceed 300 words in length. The abstract should be written in the past tense and in complete sentences. Standard nomenclature should be used and abbreviations should be avoided. No literature should be cited. Following the abstract, about 6-8 key words that will provide indexing references should be listed.

The Introduction should provide a clear statement of the problem, the relevant literature on the subject, and the proposed approach or solution. It should be understandable to colleagues from a broad range of specific disciplines.

Materials and Methods should be complete enough to allow methodology to be reproduced. However, only truly new procedures should be described in detail; previously published procedures should be cited, and important modifications of published procedures should be mentioned briefly.

Results and Discussion should be presented with clarity and precision. The results should be written in the past tense when describing findings in the author’s experiments. Previously published findings should be written in the past tense. Results should be explained, but largely without referring to the literature. 
The Discussion should interpret the findings in view of the results obtained in the current study and in previous studies on the subject matter.

Conclusion should be in a few sentences at the end of the paper.

The Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc should be brief.

Tables should be kept to a minimum and be designed to be as simple as possible. Tables are to be typed double-spaced throughout, including headings and footnotes. Each table should be on a separate page and numbered consecutively. Tables should be self-explanatory without reference to the text.

Figures should be presented on separate sheets. Graphics should be prepared using applications capable of generating high resolution GIF, TIFF, JPEG or PowerPoint before pasting in the Microsoft Word manuscript file. Tables should be prepared in Microsoft Word. Use Arabic numerals to designate figures and upper case letters for their parts (Figure 1).

References: Use the style (APA, MLA and Automatic Footnoting) most recognised in different fields as the editors may direct.

Professional and Ethical responsibilities

Authorship:

Only those who contributed to the intellectual content of an article should be listed as authors thereby allowing persons named to take public responsibilities for the content of the articles.

Duplicate submission

Manuscripts submitted are accepted with the understanding that they are not under consideration for publication by another publisher nor have been published previously. Failure to disclose this formation prior to publication is deemed a breach of scientific ethics. However, previous publication of a part of the article as an abstract does not preclude its being published in the Journal.

Informed Consent and Ethical consideration

In research involving human and animal subjects, the authors should adhere to ethical guidelines. Informed consent should be obtained, devoid of inducement and threat in case of human subjects. The Institutional Review Board or Ethics Committee’s approval should be obtained and submitted before publication of any article in the Journal. This is an affirmation of the protocol which is consistent with the Helsinki Declaration as amended in Tokyo (1975), Venice (1983) and Hong-Kong (1989). The Journal will not publish an article containing photographs or names of hum an subjects which allow clear identification, unless with the written permission of the subjects.

Responsibilities for accuracy of reports

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the statements contained in their articles. Where they submit information of any events that are potentially damaging to public safety, they are expected to report such cases to the regulatory agencies.

Embargo on Release of information

Authors may discuss their research with representatives of the mass media but in case of articles already accepted for publication, they must not circulate copies of such articles before publication.

Interest

Conflicting interest should be declared.

Copyright

The copyright of the article accepted for publication belongs to the Journal. Authors are expected to sign memoranda of understanding transferring copyrights from the authors before finally accepting the articles.
