ABSTRACT:

People the world over depend on the media to reliably and accurately report issues in a manner that will reduce conflicts and not to be seen to fuel them.
This is because consumption of media products is increasing owing to the emergence of the Internet, mobile phones and other media platforms which enable people have to know what is happening. However, this is not so as the journalist is faced with a dilemma in the performing his duties objectively and impartially. This paper is recommends that journalists should utilize the prospects available to them in the current global media environment and act as powerful agents capable of shaping and directing the society to understand and effectively participate in the socio-economic, political, cultural and religious affairs of their communities.
