ABSTRACT:
The study aimed at determining the efficiency of the marketing system or Maiduguri cattle market. by measuring performance of the market The study made use of primary data. which were collected from questionnaires randomly administered to the buyers, sellers. Performance was measured in terms of price analysis. marketing margins. cost and returns analysis, marketing efficiency. The analysis of the results showed marketing margin is low (47 84%) marketing efficiency was appreciable (42.29%) while pricing was inefficient (-336 54%) and net returns per head was N1 ,698.76. this concludes that the market is a fairlyefficient market with an inefficient pricing system
