ABSTRACT:
The current trend in academic library development worldwide is towards givingpriority to effective and positive participation in global knowledge creation, exchange and application. In this paper, the concept of the digital library isexplored and attention is drawn to dominant issues requiring consideration inharnessing its benefits for improved academic library provision in Nigeria. Morethan this, solutions to challenging funding implications are proffered, towardsreducing obstacles to effective adoption and efficient operation of digital librariesin academic institutions inNigeria.
