Higher Education Sector In Post-War Sierra Leone: Promise and Challenges
ABSTRACT:
This paper discusses reformation and challenges in higher education in Sierra Leone. The article begins with a brief historical sketch of the development of higher education in the country. The article proves that higher education in the period before independence was full of accolades and achievements. Unfortunately, the period after independence to the period under review was marked by neglect and inactivity. It is only within the past decade that attempts have been made to improve the situation. It brings out the interventions and strategies that stake-holders have embarked upon to provide innovations and reformations in the higher education sector. It however reveals that there are challenges facing higher education and that much more have to be done to provide quality education at the tertiary level In the country.
